Bardon Hill

The hamlet of Bardon Hill is situated south-west of the actual hill, which is the highest point in Leicestershire and the National Forest. The name of Bardon is derived from ‘bear den’; it is said that the last bear in England was killed there. Bardon Hill is approximately 3 miles east of Coalville and approximately 2 miles from junction 22 of the M1 motorway. It is also on the A511/A50 road which provides direct access into the city of Leicester. There is a parish church and there are three pub restaurants in the immediate vicinity, The Charnwood Arms and The Birch Tree, and The Flying Horse Indian restaurant approximately 1 mile on the eastern side.
